Just the Doctor!

So in full acceptance of my sci-fi geekhood I have to tell you this story. My friend let Elijah watch an episode of Doctor Who.

She taught him to say " I am the Doctor of Doctor Who" so he has been walking around like this

E: Ask me who I am
Z: Who are you?
E: I am the Doctor of Doctor Who.
Z: (this is where a normal mom would just smile and say yes, but no I have to say this) Well actualy what the Doctor says is "I am the Doctor" and when asked "Doctor Who" and he says "just the Doctor"

So now my son says

E: Ask me who I am
Z: Who are you?
E: I am the Doctor
Z: Doctor who?
E: Just The Doctor

Car Ride

I am a talker. I like to talk, tell stories and hear stories (some of you that know me might say that that is an understatement;), but when I am in the car driving I like to listen to the radio, write blogs in my head, think of cool craft ideas. My son on the other hand is (deep breath) very much like me. He talks and talks and talks and talks.......(someday I am going to record it and play it for you). So today when I picked him up from school and he asked to put the headsets on (God I love those things). Well he spent the whole ride home listening to the Dixie Chicks (and singing, and making me laugh, and letting me think of this blog).

Done today list

Does it count if I make the list at the end of the day of all the things I have done and then cross them off;) One of my favorite sayings is

"To be sure of hitting the target shot first and call what ever you hit the target"

So with that in mind here is the list for the day:

  • one load of laundry folded
  • 2 loads of dishes emptied out of the dishwasher
  • dishwasher reloaded
  • one batch of cranberry sauce made and marinating in the frig
  • one batch of "Thanksgiving" cookies made (Someone and I shell not say who will not let me do anything Christmasy before Thanksgiving so that is why they are not just early Christmas cookies
  • had friends over for a play date (feed them lunch and said above cookies
  • helped Elijah make the last of the 3 wise man & baby Jesus and the manger (a wonderful woman at Church is making a quilt with all the figures that the kids made, it is SOOOOO cute. All the other kids got to work on it on Sunday, but Elijah was having a sleepover at a friends house)
  • wrote 2 blogs
So you will see that there is not sewing in that list of things. Do you think that I am procrastinating? But if I wait a bit longer I might have a clean frig and a clean oven..... Ok I will not go that far. I am off now to start thinking about sewing.... I can waste a good couple hours doing that right;)

Today

So some of you may know this about me, but I am not a big fan of the cold. My perfect day is a warm (high 80's and low 90's) with a nice gentle breeze, flowers blooming. I know that some of you would say that I should not live in the mid-west, but that is where we ended up so we have to live with it (alright I have to live with it;). So there was a bit of sadness when I looked out the window to find this:

Elijah is already dressed in the photo because he has already been out in the snow and only came back in because Mark had to go to work. I convinced him that we should have breakfast before he went back out.

E: can I go back out in the snow.
Z: Yes you can, just wait until I am out of the shower and dressed.
E: Can even Ada come out too?
Z: (That means I have to go out too.....) Yes (the things that I do not do for my kids!)
So breakfast and out we all went.

I am happy to say that we had fun, for about 10 min's (about my limit) and Ada Liz was ready to come in, (that's my girl!!!)

Fairy God Daddy

Elijah come to me today and informed me that he was my Fairy God Daddy (he was wearing wings). It made me think "why do we have Fairy God Mothers and no Daddies?" What do you think?

What are you thankful for?

At Elijah's school they always have a note on the door at pick up time to tell us that they did that day. Today when I went there was 2 lists, the first one was of what they did today and the second one was what the kids where thankful for.

I scanned down the list of transformers and what not to find out what Elijah was thankful for, this is what it said:

Elijah is thankful for Thanksgiving and his little sister.

AHHHHHH OK on closer look he was not the only one that was thankful for a sibling, but it did melt my heart. He also got a "ribbon" for giving the best hugs.

Here is a photo of ONE of the things that I am most thankful for:

Elijah not the ocean;)

Great Parents

Here is a photo of my parents that I took on the trip. It was great to spend the week with them and great to have them get to know Ada Liz.
I think that the trip stories are going to be short and take some time to get to you, I am spending a lot of time working on stuff for the craft show. I got one more bag done before breakfast ( I would not feed Elijah or myself until I had got it done... He did not complain until the last little bit and was more then willing to wait while I got it done;) and Ada Liz was still sleeping.)
So here is today's To Do list:
  • sew as many of the 4 remaining bags that I can (I got 3 done)
  • swim class
  • doctors apt. for Elijah
  • class tonight (I should do some reading before that (not even one page!))
  • couple more loads of laundry (as if!)
  • fold the one load that did not get done on Monday (nope)
Not as long a list but lots of time it in, wish me luck.... maybe these hives are from worrying about the show..... I do hope they go away soon.

Monday

We are back!!! I have a bunch of stuff to do today, so I am not going to write a big long blog, but I wanted to check in. We have been gone for a little over a week and it is good to be back. Here is one of the 270 photos that I took (I think that is good I managed to not take to many photos;)
Here is my to do list for today, lets see how much of it I get done;)
  • 5 tons of laundry (round about) the last 2 loads are in the wash right now, but all the rest are folded
  • clean house
  • unpack
  • sew 10 kids bags ( I got 4 done.... not bad)
  • maybe cut out some new tissue holders (keep dreaming)
  • rest (hahaahaa) (does 5 mins count?;)
  • take care of kids (maybe this should be at the top of the list;) (well mostly they took care of me;)
  • call doctor and find out why the hives that I have had for over a week are still here (appt on Thur.)
  • deal with photos from trip (as if)
  • write more blogs (does this count?)
  • make ribs for dinner (we where out of some of the stuff for the ribs so Mark is making dinner now:)
Well I will try and check in at the end of the day to let you know how I did.... I do not expect to do all of this stuff, but it would be nice to get some of it done.

Is this Normal?

Is it normal for a mother to feel dread every time her almost 5 year old says:

"What would happen if..."

We get a lot of what would happen if questions. Things like:

"... we filled the house with all the cheese in the world?"
"...we did not have break lights?"
"...the police pulled you over for not having break lights?"

Fill in the "what would happen with" question and know that he could ask it.

They had a field trip today at school to see the rescue helicopter. Then I got there to pick him all three of his teachers told me separately that Elijah had a great time and asked a lot of questions. One of the teachers said " you would not believe the questions that he asked... well I bet you could;)"

Now for a random photo of Ada Liz before the haircut. I will put one up soon of her new do.

Just Checking In

Just a quick note to say that I am still here and all is still well. I have been spending my time working on sewing. My friends Kari and Stephanie have joined together and are going to have a table at a show here in town. It is Dec 6th, so I have been spending a lot of my free time sewing. So if you do not see much of me in the next month that is why. (Oh and I am still reading blogs, but I might not be leaving a lot of comments... but I am still reading them:)
